Abstract

|
The mechanism of urinary excretion of pyrazinamide, an antituberculous agent, was investigated by means of stop-flow technique in this study, and it was found that pyrazinamide filtered in thee glomeruli is largely reabsorbed in all portions of the tubules. All evidences indicate that the reabsorptive process of pyrazinamide is passive, limited only by concentration gradient. No clue for active process either secretory or reabsorptive, nor for facilitated diffusion was obtained. Pyrazinamide seems to be freely diffusible into the tubular epithelium like urea.
